Jaco Pastorius – Jaco Pastorius (Bonus Track Version) (1976/2000)

Posted on June 18, 2020

Jaco Pastorius is one of the greatest bass players in history, which he shows in his album “Jaco Pastorius (Bonus Track Version)”. Starting with a standard, “Donna Lee”, he demonstrates virtuosity that absolutely had me hooked in within the first 20 seconds. The second track, “Come On, Come Over”, keeps the train rolling, and got me motivated enough to make my first blog post. You take a travel through Jaco’s mind as the album continues as he demonstrates great feel and great feeling throughout. “Forgotten Love” would be a great, slow ending track that winds the original album down, but the bonus track version includes another version of “(Used to Be A) Cha-Cha”, and finishes off with an interesting “6/4 Jam”. This is my first attempt at writing about music in a while, so I’m struggling to say more than simply saying you should check it out if you have the time.
